Really?
For those of you who have NO idea what I'm talking about... Pierce Brosnan has hung up his liscense to kill. This saddens me. Cause besides Sean Connery Pierce has has been an outstanding Bond. His films, especially Die Another Day, have been some of the most engagin in the series. Brosnan brought something to Bond that was great. And yeah, I don't want Pierce doing Bond into his 60's like Moore in View to A Kill, but one last hurrah would've been great.
Brosnan felt he owed something to Bond. What he really wanted to do was a smaller Bond film that wasn't about world domination. He wanted to do Casino Royale and Quentin Tarentino was ready to write it. And EON, in all their infinite wisdom passed. Why? Beause instead of believing Brosnan and thinking there is no way to top Die Another Day... are trying to. So Brosnan hung it up and now, Eon is in talks with Eric Bana.
Eric Bana of Hulk and Troy fame.
Are you kidding me? Although the last time an Aussie took over Bond it was Geroge Lazenby and that film was great. However, it was one film. Lazenby just didn't strike the cord of Connery and so they brought back Sean to do Diamonds are forever and then peopl bitched he was overweight and old to be playing Bond.
I just hope they don't bring Pierce back for one more film when he's damn near 60 and looking like Moore in AVTAK.
At anyrate I would enjoy the much rumoured Clive Owen from King Arthur. Someone anyone barely knows. I mean, Pierce was the one I had been waiting for since the Remington Steele debacle. NBC wouldn't let him out of his contract. We might not have had a 60 year old Moore because of it.
I'm just not buying Eric Bana. So there.

PS Hurray the Garciaparra move to the Cubs.
Posted by matty at August 1, 2004 03:06 AMI heard that they were looking for a new Bond for a while now. I saw an interview where Pierce said that he knew they were planning a new Bond film, but they hadn't talked to him about it at all. It was one of those interviews that it was clear he was putting the message out there that he wasn't ready to hang it up, but it was out of his control. In any case.....Bana is a bad idea. Ooooohhh maybe we can get Hayden Christiansen. I mean he is such a great actor! And he has proven homself soooo well.... and thats all I have to say about that.
Posted by: A.J. at August 1, 2004 01:26 PMI just heard on the BBC that they are doing a movie about the young James Bond being played by Orlando Bloom. The report also said that he could be ready to go as Pierce steps down. Just what I heard... don't shoot the messenger.
Posted by: A.J. at August 1, 2004 04:00 PMEric Bana = bad bad bad bad idea... hell, he was a bad idea for Hulk.
My pick: Clive Owen.
End of story.
