Isn't it funny that 4 years ago when I started my blog that I only knew of two other people that had them (Matt and Jeff)? Jeff hasn't posted since the Berlin Wall came down and Matt is as bad as I am these days. I guess with all the extra reading we do with everyone else's blog why should we even bother? Well, in any case, this is just an update blog.... nothing funny or slightly misogynistic for this entry. Yeah right. ;) So without further hesitation I just wanted to say that I started a new job a few weeks ago and THAT is the reason I haven't been in touch with most of you. It's not because I don't like you or because I'm jealous of your new vibrating technological device or whatever reason you may have concocted in your noggin'. I've just been really busy. Truly! For those of you who didn't know, I have been doing design work for a San Francisco charity called STREETSMART4KIDS. They basically raise money for programs that deal with homeless youth in the Bay Area. I have been deemed their "Creative Director" and have designed all of their promotional items for their current campaign as well as their website (www.streetsmart4kids.org). I have been told that those designs are currently stuck on sides of buses, taxi cabs, and other various billboards in San Francisco. Who would have thought that my designs would be on a bus? I mean other than me carrying them on as a passenger? It was a truly good cause and I am so glad I became a part of it. Or is it becoming a part of the solution? I always forget. That prompted me to apply my skills to jobs here in the UK, so now I am working for Comic Relief. Some of you might remember Comic Relief from Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, and Whoopi Goldberg doing their Comic Relief benefits in the States. Well, the organization that they were benefiting was or is a UK charity that focuses on aid to Africa (as well as the UK). Their last telethon here in the UK raised over 100 million dollars. So, needless to say, it's a feel good organization to work for. I'm working in the photo/design department and I must say that it's truly fun. The name definitely holds true for the work environment. The cool thing is that I get to work on a lot of photo shoots with really cool celebrities. The bad thing is that I don't know one UK celebrity from another so the celebrity cool factor is totally lost on me. Currently I'm under a 6 month contract so the fun will have an end. I was basically brought on board to get them through this years fundraiser (Red Nose Day). With my string of good experiences working with not-for-profits I might just focus more of my time following such endeavors. Julie is COO of a not-for-profit so I guess that's just another thing we have in common. Not the Chief Operations Officer or whatever COO stands for, but the fondness for having something a little extra to go to work for each day. I guess it's sort of a selfish idea of enjoying working for a charity but hell... it's human nature and the last time I checked I'm human. No wait let me check... ummm..... yep.....still human! With that in mind... I'm taking this human body to bed for the night. Me very sleepy. I will try to be better at the blogging but some of you have been wanting me to update Ella's website so I guess that is the next thing on my list. Ok.... I'm off. Done. Talk at you later. :) Zzzzzzzzzz............
